We are proud to announce our latest investment in CeLLife Technologies Oy, a Finnish startup focused on battery testing, analytics, and recycling. CeLLife’s innovative technology allows faster and more accurate testing of individual battery cells, thus enabling the use of second-life batteries with greater confidence and cost-effectiveness.
Founded as a spinout from Tampere University, CeLLife has its roots in years of academic research. The company’s patented technology has already attached notable customers and represents a significant opportunity for the global battery recycling market.
“We are happy to welcome Grid.vc as our first institutional investor to support our mission to make electrification of our societies more environmentally sustainable and economically feasible. Grid.vc’s industry knowledge and networks can help us in the commercialization of our innovation”, says Roni Luhtala and Tuomas Messo, co-founders and innovators of CeLLife.
“We believe that CeLLife has developed a vital part of the battery recycling value-chain with great global market potential”, says Jussi Teijonsalo, Managing Director of Grid.vc. “As the electrification of everything expands, the demand for cost-effective second-life batteries will increase too, while also increasing the supply of recycled battery cells. Second-life batteries will make use of energy storages feasible in numerous existing and novel use-cases”.
This investment is already our second investment from Grid.vc to a spinout company from Tampere University and represents a good working collaboration between us. Both investments have been made to companies working in the field of battery analytics, which is a testament to the leading battery analytics research done at the university.
With CeLLife’s positive progress on both product and business development, we at Grid.vc are happy and proud to support the company in its mission to make battery recycling and second life use more viable and sustainable.
